Today you will be taken to the delightful venue of Calames to sample some Ariège sport climbing. With spectacular views from all the routes, difficult or easy, this is definitely a day to remember.
The mountain is south facing and can be pleasantly warm even in the middle of winter. The sheer volume of climbing will ensure that you tick off many routes. Sector Initiation is great for beginners, whereas the stronger individuals may want to try some of the cave routes in Sector Grottes. Those with more experience will relish the excellent multipitch routes to the top of the mountain, with routes over 400m long.

Day two takes you to the Granite of Auzat. It is the perfect place to practice some granite sport climbing before visiting the 1000m high Dent D’Orlu. It will be refreshing to pull on slopers after a hard day crimping on the limestone routes of Calames the previous day. The routes at Auzat are mainly single pitch, ensuring a large number of ticks. Grades vary between F3c and F8a.

A visit to the spectacular Dent D’Orlu. The Dent D’Orlu has something for everyone. At the base are brilliant granite boulders with three circuits for beginner, intermediate and expert boulderers. There are also sport and traditional routes of all grades. For those with a bit more experience, why not try one of the ‘all day’ routes. These monster climbs vary in length between 100m - 1000m. Grades vary from F4a - F6c on these spectacular climbs, and are both bolted and traditional, depending on which route you choose. This truly is a memorable accent with outrageous views. (Bring double ropes for traditional routes).

Day 4 could be spent walking up a nearby peak or canoeing, allowing your sore muscles and fingers time to recuperate. However, if you still feel fresh, a trip to Appy could be ideal. A very pleasant venue, with sport climbs of all grades on great Gneiss. A good place to relax after a tiring day previous, allowing you to recharge the body batteries before your final day.

Day 5:

Sinsat, truly a sight to behold. Your first glimpse of this massive, seemingly featureless limestone monster, will take your breath away. The main face is home to some hard aid climbs, yet to be freed.
But don’t despair, Sinsat has something for everyone. Easy sport climbs, state of the art routes and dramatic multi-pitches. An excellent opportunity to tick many routes or try for a personal best before your return. An excellent outing all round!
